In October 1983, a gathering was organized to garner support for Fermoy Hospital (St. Patrick’s Community Hospital, Fermoy), marking the official commencement of the hospital’s fundraising association. Over the span of 40 years, this dedicated group of volunteers has successfully generated substantial funds for the crucial healthcare facility.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the association, a book launch occurred last Tuesday evening within the hospital premises. The event was attended by both current and past fundraisers, as well as local political figures and representatives from the hospital management.

We would like to extend our sincer thanks to Sheena O’Brien, Eily Whelan & her son Sean Whelan for their help in compiling the 40th Anniversary book
and to the numerous sponsors for their continued support, whose adverts are located within the book.

The attendees were greeted by Tadhg O’Donovan, one of the founding members of the association and a former Fermoy Town Councillor. In his opening address, Tadhg called for a moment of silence to honor the departed members of the association. Subsequently, he delved into the historical journey of the hospital, tracing its evolution from a workhouse in centuries past to its current status as a top-notch facility serving the community.
